A refreshing twist to the cast of the Disney Princess’s. The overall theme of the movie is a positive one: be true to yourself. The main character, Tiana, is the hardest working princess to hit the big screen! I hope Tiana becomes my daughters new favorite princess. Tiana works two jobs to save money for her dream restaurant, never loses her focus or determination, is close to her mother, appreciates her parents, and most importantly realizes that if you wish for something and follow it with hard work, it just might happen. Think back to some of the other princesses like Snow White and Cinderella, who each had evil step-mothers. Hello, half of America is divorced! This gives us step-moms a really bad rap. The little mermaid disobeyed her father, traded in her fin for feet, and moved to a place where she would never see her family again. That story line doesn’t work for me either. The Princess and the Frog is a great film for 2009, and Tiana makes a wonderful new Princess.
