Body America Has Arrived

I have tons of new products arriving at http://www.laurenspicks.com, and Body America is one of them. What makes the Body America line so great besides the cute retro pin-up girl packaging?

Cool Stuff at Cosmoprof North America 2010

Here are new products that I discovered at Cosmoprof, here in Las Vegas.

For those you who love eyelash extensions, and tinting your eyelashes, there is now Cry Baby. Cry Baby is a semi-permanent mascara that will add volume, length, curl and color to your lashes. Cry Baby is waterproof, and lasts up to two weeks. This product is new to me, and technicians need to be trained on how to apply this product. I currently don’t know of any salons that are offering Cry Baby.

Ever have dry cracked feet? Well Baby Foot has an at home solution. You put on a slipper that has medication contained in it, wear for two hours and than wash off.

The booth was not giving out examples, so I have not tried this product. When I saw the dramatic pictures of peeling feet, I said ugggh out loud. The sales rep assured me that is was not a painful process.

Next product is Skincerity.

Skincerity is a nightly breathable barrier and is the world’s only patented breathable masque that dramatically improves your skin without changing your regimen. Before you go to bed you roll the product over your face and it seals a light barrier on your skin. The theory is that the barrier locks in whatever face product you are using (think eye creme, acne medication, etc.) and the natural moisture contained in your skin. Here is what the company states as benefits:

*Tones and tightens your skin
*Reduces the appearance of skins fine lines and wrinkles
*Reduces the appearance of enlarged pores and also facial redness
*Cleans and exfoliates the skin
*Smoothes and brightens dull facial complexions
*It hydrates and nourishes dry damaged skin

This product retails for $95 dollars and can be purchased threw salons, dermatologist, and individual sales reps. I was able to get a sample of this product, and used it for the first time last night. I will use it for 4 weeks to see if it actually works. If I like it I will do another posting about it. Emani Minerals is a green organic cosmetics line. This makeup line is vegan, gluten friendly, talc free, cruelty free, committed to use 100% recycled paper goods (25% post & 75% pre-consumer), and is committed to make all paper goods 100% biodegradable.

What I was most interested in was all the different types of foundations this product line offered.
DR. Gram skin care line is simple and straight forward. This product line is organic and eco-friendly, and the price point is affordable. Personally I am a sucker for eye-cremes and DR. Gram serves up a good one. I have used it for the past two days and once my samples run out I will be purchasing this product.

Last but not least is Ecoco Extreme Hold hair gel. I was just digging the models makeup and couldn’t resist touching their stiff hair. I also received samples from this company, if you would like to try the firmest hair gel out there, contact me via the ‘ASK LAUREN’ tab.

Solerra/ Tanee Tan Line Corrector

Do you have tan lines this summer? I can tell you that I do. Fortunately, I’ve found a quick and affordable solution to help camouflage dramatic, contrasting lines. The Solerra Tanee Tan Line Corrector is a unique self tanning product that instantly hides tan lines.

I will say that the self tanner did not match my skin perfectly, but over all the product worked and was easy to use. You can build the color up by reapplying every four hours. The picture below are my results after two applications.

Body Glow

One of my favorite products to help glam up my outfit in the summer is body oil that is combined with gold shimmer. Not over bearing shimmer, but just enough to have someone doing a double take at my gam’s. My product of choice is Body Glow by Nars.

Half & Half

You can tell a lot by a man’s shoes, and even more by a woman’s hand. Think when you look at a man’s shoe: you are looking at the condition, shape, and material they are in. Just by looking you can make some general assumptions. For example: Does he take care of his of shoes? When was the last time his shoes were shined?

How women treat their hair and nails is comparable to how men treat their shoes. You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands.

-Are her nails properly filed, and cuticles cut? Is her nail polished chipped? What color polish does she wear, and what does that say about her mood and personality?

With that said, I love the manicure this chick is wearing. It says I am daring, experimenting with something different, and yet still tasteful. Most importantly it says I am working the metallic trend through my nails verses through my clothing.

Loving Dinair Airbrushing System

I had the best time last week at an event that was put on by Dinair at Bellagio’s Spa & Salon. Dinair is an airbrushing system that is perfect for home use. This system is no joke; it makes it possible for a beginner to apply makeup and to create a perfect face. After a little experimentation and getting the hang of using the airbrush, it’s fun. The key things to learn are how much pressure to put on the gun, and which colors to use to obtain the look you want. My favorite part was the stencils; they are simple to use and turn out great. This girl’s hair was already purple; the stencil was applied with black paint. How cool does this look?

I am so inspired by the possibilities Dinair holds for Halloween, which is one of my favorite holidays. This year for Halloween I am leaning towards being Neytiri from Avatar. Recreating the texture of Neytiri’s skin will taken a fraction of the time using the Dinair airbrush makeup system. If I can pull this one off, it will be my best costume ever!

Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System

About a month ago I was talking with my mom and she told me about how much she loved her new Clarisonic. I then read up on the product and added it to my wish list (along with another other hundred items). A stressful day took me to my parents house recently where I got to vent to my mom. After I was done with my crying episode, she handed me a Clarisonic and said, “Here is something that will cheer you up”. Although she had already cheered me up by letting me vent out my frustrations, I became very excited to get home to try my new cosmetic toy. Although I will admit that a brush to wash your face might sound a little bit over dramatic, but it has made a world of difference in my skin.

I find that the Clarisonic cleans my face better than using my hands. The sonic micro-massage gently removers anything that might be on my skin but doesn’t hurt like a face scrub, and as a result, I have a dewy glow in my face. The instructions state that it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Which makes sense, if you remove a layer of dead skin the new layer will absorb whatever product you are putting on your skin better. If you are thinking about Mothers Day Gift, this is perfect. I am very thankful for mine. Thanks MOM.

Ginger+Liz Colour Collection

What’s new in the world of fashionable nail polish? Ginger+Liz. If you are looking for a fun line of nail polishes, this is it, and here are some of my personal favorites for this summer.

Matte Nail Polish

I attended the International Salon and Spa Expo last weekend in Long Beach, CA. Being a wardrobe stylist you want to be on the cutting edge of everything fashion, and I believe hair and makeup is involved in that process. At the end of the day how do you take the runway trends and pull them into your real life? As a stylist, this is my area of expertise. Customers want to purchase items that will be valid next year, and look their best. At the show I found new vendor’s to try, and if I love their product, I will be able to offer it to you at www.laurenspicks.com. Every product on Laurenspicks.com is either tested or hand picked by me and my loved ones.

In talking about trends, one that I hadn’t tried was the matte nail polish. I usually stick to a french manicure, or a nude colored nail polish. At the ISSE show every nail polish company was there with their whole line of products. When I stopped at the OPI booth and found their matte nail polish, I thought I should try it. So here is the round up. To get the matte affect you are not going to use a base or top coat. My manicurist tried both a base and top coat, and it does not work on this matte formula. I think this product is awesome if you paint your own nails. This nail polish dries very quickly, and since you can’t use base or top coat, it’s fool proof. Do not expect your nail polish to last more than a few days, the OPI matte polish that I used lasted four days.
