Boho/Ethnic Bags are Everywhere

I do more page turning than I do actual reading. This past week I have turned the pages of a dozen magazines sporting the new ‘it’ trend: super ethnic, boho purses. They come in all shapes and sizes, and price points for that matter. Bright pops of color, with extreme texture; this is an accessory to add some life into your summer wardrobe. Mad as a Hatter

One of the most anticipated movies of this year is Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Now if you are expecting to see a version of the original movie, guess again. One of the screen writers, Linda Woolverton took more influence from Lewis Carrol’s the Jabberwocky poem than original Alice an wonderland story Carrol wrote. I personally can not wait to see this movie, mostly because the makeup looks magnificent. I can only image how many hundreds of hours went into the makeup and wardrobe alone for this movie. From a fashion standpoint you should be seeing the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed clothing everywhere. I have seen tons of sweet playful summer dresses perfect for an adult tea party and jewelry with cups, saucers, and pink pastries. I am the biggest fan of Tarina Tarantino’s ‘Alice in wonderland’ jewelry: it is fun, a great pop of color, and most importantly will still be stylish in three years. This is my favorite pieces from her “Alice Flamingo” line.

Rain, Rain Go Away

I lived in Seattle for 4 years and paid my dues with the rain. Vegas is not suppose to rain cats and dogs, but here we are… Personally, my wardrobe is no longer up to par for this type of weather. My daughter wore her rain boots today and was stepping in the puddles, splashing water as we walked and loving every minute of it. She was having so much fun, it made me want my own rain boots. I’ve decided that investing in a pair again doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. Here are some of my favorites

What’s up Doc

Lately I have had my eyes on Doc Martins, or the Doc Martin concept. Are Doc Martins coming back in style? In my mind they never really went out of style. Here are some of my favorites. In order from top to bottom: L.A.M.B Volera Laceup Boots $599.00, Doc Martin Triumph $150, Frye Vienna Lace Up $498.00, Doc Martin, 20 eyelet boot $150.
Wear these boots with basically every and anything. They especially work well with skinny jeans, leggings, dresses, skirts and fishnets. Every punk rocker at one point owned a pair, hopefully you still have yours.

Winter Must Have Ladies

I read a saying in Glamour magazine the other day that made me laugh. It read something like, ” It’s OK that your summer wardrobe is your winter wardrobe, with tights.” What makes this funny, is that for most people it is true. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s quite the opposite actually. Of course, your linen pants should only be worn in the summer time. But in general you should be able to wear 60% of your wardrobe all year round. With that said, I want to focus on tights. If you don’t own a pair of black opaque tights, put it on your want list. Wear your dresses, shorts, and skirts with black opaque tights and pair them with black heels or boots. You have just taken advantage of your wardrobe, and elongated your legs in the process.

The must have tights for this winter season are lace, which I am definitely loving. If you are not into the lace, go for a patterned or colored pair of tights that you do like, and will actually wear. Tights are an inexpensive way to update your wardrobe. Try it out, and let me know how it works.

I have always liked Vera Wang’s style. Her designs are very classic with a modern twist. Right now I am especially loving these Moonstone Chain Earrings. Answer:  Are Uggs still considered the IT boot? The answer is no. The “IT” boot this season has gone to ankle boots and over the knee boots. With that said, I am not going to nod my head in shame if you rock them. Fashion is not always practical. I know Uggs are warm, easy, and most importantly comfortable.
